Quilting - Step 9 (Finishing)

This series is for my dad. He learned a lot about quilting while we were in Bayfield for New Year's, and he seemed surprised at all the steps involved in quilting. I started this quilt back in January, but have been waiting to publish the posts detailing each and every step until after I gave the quilt away to its intended recipients.

STEP 9: Finishing

Just when you think you can't take much more of the stupid quilt that you were once so excited about (ha ha), it's time to do the finishing work.

First, sew all the binding strips to make one long strip.

Then fold the strips in half and iron them flat.

Third, sew the strips to your quilt.

Then cut off all the excess batting and backing fabric.

Finally, wrap the binding strips around from the front of the quilt and hand-stitch them to the seam on the back.

And that's it! You've just finished your quilt!

This...

...plus this...

...equals this!

In only 9 easy steps. :)

Congratulations on your nuptials, Brad and Katie!!!

Steph! The quilt is so beautiful! We absolutely love it. And how cool to learn more about how it came to be through your blog?! Thank you so much.
