Sloppy Joes

It's WAY better-tasting (and really quite simple) to make home-made Sloppy Joes.

Sloppy Joes

1 T veggie oil
1 medium onion, minced
1 garlic clove, minced
.5 tsp chili powder
.75 # ground beef
1 tsp brown sugar
s&p
1 c tomato puree
.5 c ketchup
.25 c water
tabasco
buns

1. Heat the oil over medium-high heat in a skillet or small pan. Add the onion and cook until soft and lightly browned (about 5 min). Add the garlic and chili powder and cook for 1 min.

2. Add the beef, brown sugar, s&p. Reduce heat to medium and cook until the meat is no longer pink (about 4 min).

3. Stir in the tomato puree, ketchup, and water. Cook until slightly thickened (about 5 min). Season with tabasco and s&p (to taste).

4. Serve in a bun. (American cheese is optional.)

For best results, serve with a green salad made from crop-share lettuce/herbs (and home-made vinaigrette), as well as rhubarb crisp.

Enjoy!
