fortitude, or self-handicapping?

My training plan for the Heart of Summer calls for a 2-mile run today. Well, I already walked 5.5 miles with friend Dotty this morning, then ran some errands with Mike, took a nap, drank some Mike's Hard Lemonade with friends Anna and Jesse, then ate the wonderful meal the Mike grilled (ribs and baked potatoes ... and some left-over ice cream cake). I really debated skipping the run today, but I don't want to be a quitter already. And then I remembered the theory of self-handicapping - perfect! (Am I a psychology nerd or what?!) So, with all that alcohol and yummy food to perhaps impair my performance, I went out there anyway (yay for ego preservation!). It actually wasn't that bad! Mike kindly let me borrow his iPod, so the 2 miles passed pretty quickly (at least by my slow "running" standards). Thanks, Mike!

Time: 27 min
