Mike has been planning his tattoo for a looooong time. Now that he survived his winter on bike (sans car), it was time to take the plunge! He had his first consultation a few weeks ago, then today was the big day.
He and Sarah (our tattoo artist), refined the design.
She finalized the stencil...
...then marked it on his leg.
Once the placement was perfect, it was time to get started!
Mike was cool as a cucumber...
...until she hit a couple sensitive spots.
Then he told me to stop bothering him so he could just go to his relaxing place in his mind.
At that point I became way anxious. (It's hard to see someone you love in pain, even if it's something they want!) I distracted myself with some mirror pictures, which always entertains me.
And then it was over! It took about an HOUR all together. (Making my 5-minute penguin pale in comparison!) Here's Mike's face during the big reveal:
