I've heard a lot about the MN Landscape Arboretum, and I've been meaning to go for some time. The stars aligned yesterday when (1) I got a couple for $1 off admission, (2) I looked into it and discovered it's only about 15-20 minutes away, not an hour like I wrongfully assumed, and (3) I found out that U of M students get in for free! It took a little convincing, but eventually I got Mike on board with the idea.
It was really cool! We walked through all the small gardens adjacent to the visitor center, and also ventured a little further away. The only things I neglected to consider in planning the excursion were that (a) the weather was sweltering hot, which made us both very tired very quickly and (b) everyone and their brother also thought of visiting the arboretum on this lovely holiday weekend - it was packed! As a result, I'm really looking forward to going back sometime this fall when (i) I have more energy because I'm not recovering from surgery, (ii) it hopefully won't be as crowded, and (iii) it's a bit cooler.
I'll end this post of lists with a few photos from yesterday:
