My fortune cookie the other day said something to the effect of "it doesn't take much to be happy." It made me think about how achievement-oriented I am, generally always striving for the next best thing (dreaming of a bigger kitchen, hoping for a promotion at work, planning for my next car once Lantra dies, etc.). For awhile my friend Mary and I were keeping a "daily appreciation" list, emailing each other every day about what we were grateful for that day. We had everything from appreciation for kayaking, to 2-for-1 Denny's coupons, to state parks, to hot running water, to sleeping in. It was a great way to remind myself to be thankful for all the blessings I have in life. I don't know why we stopped, but it would be nice to be more mindful and appreciative again. So, along those lines, I'm appreciative of the wonderful day I had again today.
1. Lovely walk around Lake of the Isles with Dotty and Carl this morning.
2. Got my Target shopping done (and even saved 5%!).
3. Picked up a new Nalgene at REI.
4. Lovely walk around the neighborhood with Marsha.
5. Scrumptious dinner with Jack and Marsha (and Mike and Anne).
6. Got home in time to finish this blog post, have a cup of tea, work on filling my iPod for the coming week, and read a bit before bed.
7. A happy cat asleep on my lap. :)
I'm taking off for Yellowstone at the crack of dawn on Wednesday, so it will probably be two weekends before I'm able to post anything again. Have a great end of February!
