running update (August)

8/13 - My last run was 7/7, so I figured this first run after my get-back-into-it resolution would be pretty brutal, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I had feared. I went to a new-ish place (Cedar Lake) so I wouldn't know exactly how far I was going or how far I had left (otherwise my mind taunts myself with thoughts like "that was only miles, you'll never make it X miles at this rate; this really sucks," etc, etc. I ended up taking only 3 very short walk breaks during the run, and a short cool-down at the end, so I'm pretty proud of my performance.

Avg Speed: 4.8 mph
Cumulative distance: 55.02 mi

8/16 - I ended up taking two days off, but I didn't want to quit already so I forced myself to run again today - I need to make this a habit again! I had a hard time getting into it, and I think my long (5 min) warm-up and long (6 min) cool-down definitely had an effect on my overall stats, but I'm still happy that I ran for 20 minutes straight!

8/31 - Life sure has a way of interfering with the best laid workout plans. After being dealt some unexpected (and frankly traumatizing) news at work on 8/17, it took me quite some time to get back in to running again. But better late than never, right? And now that my days are completely open (hopefully only temporarily!!) I have no excuses not to run.
