Southern Minnesota

Another belated blog post...

Mike and I took a mini roadtrip in southern Minnesota on Labor Day. It was beautiful! We drove down to Rochester, then cut over to Whitewater State Park. We were both interested in seeing "Inspiration Peak," so we went off the beaten path and did some less-visited trails in the park. It was well worth it to hike to the top of the peak!

Well, at least I enjoyed the views, even in Mike didn't!  ;)

After a couple hours of hiking, we headed to Mazeppa, a small town about halfway between the state park and the twin cities. Why Mazeppa? Because that's where the apple orchard was! (Apple Ridge Orchard)

In addition to picking about 30# of apples...

...I also got to feed an alpaca!

It was a lot of fun!

After getting our fill of the orchard, we headed back toward "the cities." Little did we know, but the holiday made it nearly impossible to find an open restaurant for late lunch/early dinner. Luckily we stumbled upon a little gem of a deli in Cannon Falls. Mike was also excited to try out the Cannon Falls winery as long as we were there. :)

So that was our exciting Labor Day celebration. Happy fall, everyone!
