The weather has finally improved enough that Mike and I can start "hiking" in the area again! Today we explored
Baker Park Reserve, which is about 30 minutes straight west of our house. There were two loops around the lake - one paved and one unpaved. I had hoped we could walk on the unpaved path (you know, to make it more like a real hike), but there was still so much snow around that we had to go on the paved path - and even that was difficult! We estimated that 67% (I estimated 75% and Mike estimated 50%) of the path was covered with snow or slush. It was tough walking!

There were surprisingly few photo ops. Or maybe there were more, but I was so focused on where I was stepping that I couldn't really look around much to see them.

I actually got warm enough that I was wearing just my short-sleeves! (Outside! In March!)

The coolest thing was the 45th parallel marker!

Overall it was a fun excursion, but it felt like an incredibly looooong 6.2 miles with all the snow we had to trudge over. Nevertheless, what a treat it was to get outside in beautiful weather in mid-March. Happy early spring to you all!

The 45th parallel? Wait a minute - that's over near Peshtigo!
