Man, it's been a rough few months. First off, no one was kidding about the nausea and fatigue of the first trimester. Then I had about 2 weeks of feeling well before I came down with horrific back spasms that lasted about 48 hours, followed immediately by the worst cold of my life! Luckily (thankfully!), by Thanksgiving I was feeling semi-human again, so we were still able to visit my Gramma for the holiday. What a fun time we had!!
We drove out at the crack of dawn on Thanksgiving day, and made it to her house in time to watch the second half of the Packers game. We had "Gramma's hotdish" for dinner, then I made the Thanksgiving pies while she taught Mike how to knit. It turns out that he's a natural!
Here he is, just learning: (sorry for the poor quality cell phone photo)
And here he is the next day. The baby bib is almost done already!!
On Friday, my parents drove up to join us for our belated Thanksgiving dinner. We had quite the spread! I absolutely love Thanksgiving dinner. YUM.
On Saturday, Mike got a tour of all the classic eating establishments of Northern Wisconsin. For lunch we went to Mickey-Lu's, the home of best burger in the entire state (if not the country). Seriously. Mike, the newly non-vegetarian, even asked if we could go back for breakfast the next day on our way out of town. (Unfortunately they don't open until 11am on Sundays so we were out of luck. Otherwise I totally would have been up for it!)
Then Saturday night we went to Shaffer's, the home of the best broasted chicken in the state of Wisconsin. Delish!
My extended family all joined us too, which was such a treat! Thanks, Mom and Dad, Dolly and Peter, Ben, Alice, and Spencer! (Heather and Sarah, we missed you!)
Then, unfortunately, Sunday rolled around all too quickly and we had to head home. But what a wonderful long weekend we had! Thank you, Gramma!
But the weekend wasn't totally over - Mike carried on his new knitting hobby! By Tuesday night, he had already finished his second project: a baby hat!
I have a pretty amazingly talented husband. We even went to StevenBe's, a local yarn store on Friday for a "date night." Now he's making me a present! I can't wait for my new scarf :)
Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
