Christmas Revelry

We did so much fun stuff to celebrate Christmas! Since I forgot my camera most of the time, however, I'm sorry that you'll have to make do with my written descriptions of the weekend's events.

FRIDAY:
1. Mike and I started the refinancing process (again). Rates are so low that we can't help but take advantage of them! And hopefully we can have our house paid off by the time Baby goes to college...
2. Then I did our grocery shopping (a major trip, since I hadn't been in several weeks - ever since I got sick - and we had lots of  yummy meals planned for the weekend), before going back to the U to meet Mike for lunch (Bun Mi!) and to bring him home.
3. Baking ensues! I made a Boston Cream Pie, sugar cookies, and frosted cupcakes (all from scratch, of course). The fun part was using food coloring to dye a few of the cupcakes PINK -- I was hoping that my Dad and Jack would take the offer to eat the cupcakes and find out Baby's gender.
4. My parents arrived! Yay!!
5. We chatted while I finished baking, then my Dad ate his cupcake!!!
6. Dinner was a DELICIOUS lasagna that my Dad made, then we all watched Super 8, which was a great family film.

SATURDAY:
1. We all slept in, then had French Toast and sausage with clementines for breakfast. Then I started prepping our strata (the traditional Christmas breakfast in the Burcusa household) for the next day, and also made a cherry pie for Jack.
2. We frosted my sugar cookies together! Tons of fun (at least for me and my parents. Not so much for Mike and Anne. I don't know what's wrong with them.)
3. After watching part of the Vikings game, we headed over to Jack and Marsha's.  They ate their cupcakes too!!!! :)   Now everyone knows that we're having a GIRL!!
4. We had our traditional Christmas Eve dinner at the Burmasters' (yum!!!), then got to open presents. We have some incredibly generous family who are already showering Baby with gifts!

SUNDAY:
1. We slept in again, then had our yummy strata. Next came more gifts!! More incredibly generous family - thanks, Mom and Dad!
2. Then my Dad fixed my broken car door. Woo-hoo!
3. Next we stopped in at my mom's cousin's Janet's house. Mike and I could only stay a few minutes, but it was a nice visit. My parents stayed longer while we headed to the present opening at Mike and Mary's -- more very generous family!!
4. My parents met up with us in time for the Fleischhacker family gathering. Always an overwhelming gathering for my little family of introverts. ;)  But it was fun to see everyone and the food was delicious, as always.
5. We then finished up the weekend with a thrilling Packers victory.

MONDAY:
By this point, none of us wanted to look at food ever again, so my parents basically just took off for home. It's always sad to see them go.

That's when Mike got a bee in his bonnet to start organizing Baby's room. We spent all day cleaning and organizing, and now our house just looks worse than it did before! (How are we ever going to be ready for our appraisal?!) But at least we made $98.50 on the 15 bags of books we brought to Half-Price, and we'll get to deduct the carload of our crap stuff that we brought to Goodwill. The organizing continued again today (Tuesday), so hopefully I'll have some photos of a finished Baby's room in the not-too-distant future!

Hope you all had a lovely and relaxing holiday weekend!!
