Friday night I got to meet Evan, then Ryan and I went to Outback for a Bloomin' Onion. (Of course! It's an old grad school tradition.) Then we watched several hours of Olympics while chatting. What a lovely evening it was :)

Saturday we relaxed at their home for awhile, then packed a picnic lunch for our nature adventure. We went to Lake Johnson Park in Raleigh. It was a beautiful 60+ degree day, and a lovely jaunt around the lake. I have to admit that I'm not used to ANY elevation changes, so all the hills were tough on my Minnesota-trained muscles.
Then for dinner we went out for real North Carolina BBQ at Danny's - did you know that North Carolinians put vinegar on their meat, not BBQ sauce?! Weird, but tasty. After dinner we watched the worst movie ever. Oh well.
(Here I am, eating a "hush puppy" at the BBQ joint!)

Sunday was another beautiful day! After an easy morning at home, Ryan and Evan and I took a walk around their neighborhood, and we even explored their local greenway. Dinner was at the regional pizza joint, the Mellow Mushroom. It was delicious! After that, we just talked and watched some more Olympics until it was time for bed.
The weekend was so fun, and it just flew by! Thanks, Ryan, for letting me come stay with you! Thanks, Nate, for the excellent hosting as well! Thanks to both of you for introducing me to Evan!!
