Nerd alert!

Have I mentioned to you how much I love receiving holiday cards (and birth announcements and the like)? I really love it. And I love organizing them at the end of every holiday season almost as much as I like receiving them. Because that's when I get to look at them all again, and get to see how the people/couples/families have changed over time. How do I do that, you ask? Well, it's possible due to my super nerdy card sorting system...

Hidden in the corner of our bookshelf is my big three-inch "Christmas, etc." binder.

Every person/couple/family we exchange cards with has their own folder page in my binder.

After we've enjoyed seeing the current year's photos posted around the mirror in our living room, I take them down and write the year on the back of the picture and/or letter.

Then, before I insert the current year's card/photo into the appropriate folder, I take out all the old photos so I can see how everyone has changed. As you can see, this (2009) is the fourth year I've done this. (Top left is 2006, bottom left is 2007, top right is 2008, bottom right is 2009.)

Super nerdy, I know, but super fun too :)

I really like this idea - I may steal it! Better than sticking them in the general card box...
