Poor Cats

Lucy and Mac have been very grumpy that we no longer let them outside (on their leashes) in the summer. Mike took a good photo showing why:

These are "our" red-tailed hawks on the tree in our backyard. (Note that, while he did use the zoom lens, the photo is not otherwise cropped to make the hawks appear bigger.)

After the recent snowfall, we saw some rabbit tracks going out to the middle of our yard, then some scuffling, and then the tracks just disappear. Yeah, I think it was the hawks. And I certainly wouldn't want that fate to befall our cats.

So we try to appease the poor things, and effectively just let them rule the house.
