Sat 4/3 - Amanda and I are doing a 10K on 4/24, so today we got to run a "preview" of the race. It was nice! We went about 5.5-ish miles with only two short walk breaks, then did a cool-down walk until the end (6.2 mi). It went surprisingly well, given my handicap - namely, I only got about 6 hours of sleep because of severe GI distress starting at about 4:30 in the morning. Yuck!

Sat 4/10 - Hmmm...notice the lack of runs between 4/3 and 4/10? Not a good idea. Our long run today was pretty painful. 6.5 miles! (We did take plenty of walk breaks, though.) I seriously have to get some runs in next week if I'm going to have any chance of finishing the 10K and ultimately working up the half marathon in June...

Sat 4/24 - Well, I ended up getting bowled over by a bad "common cold" this week. It was miserable! I even took a day off work, I was so sick. As a result, when it was pouring down rain this morning, I had to bail on the 10K I had been training for. Sigh. I'm really annoyed that (a) I didn't get to participate after all that training, and (b) I had already paid the registration fee! Argh. Oh, well. Here's to practicing what I preach regarding self care. This afternoon I did take a quick run around Cedar Lake (once the rain stopped) to try to get back into the swing of things.
